Overview of Employment Permit Processing Dates

After submitting an application for an Irish employment permit, it will be sent to the Irish Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE).

Applications are processed in the order in which they are received by the DETE. Only applications that are complete and have had the associated fee paid (if applicable) will be processed.

The DETE and the Irish Immigration Service Delivery regularly update their websites on which lot of applications they are currently processing. These will normally be shown by dates.

For example, if the date shown for a specific permit is 5 July 2022, then only applications received on or before this date will be being processed.

What Are the Current Processing Dates?

    Overview

As of 3 January 2023, the DETE are processing applications received on these following dates. As previously mentioned however, it’s important to note that these are updated on a regular basis and that only the official DETE website will have the most recent and up-to-date processing dates.

Note also that Applications requesting a Support Letter for a Critical Skills Employment Permit for a Stamp 4 can’t be processed until the permit holder has completed 21 months working in Ireland. Applications received after 20 months will be accepted by the DETE, but will not be processed until after the 21 month threshold has been reached.

How Can I Ensure My Application is Processed Quickly?

There are a few general tips to remember when submitting your employment permit application to ensure that it is processed as quickly as possible.

For example, it’s imperative that you have fulfilled all of the necessary requirements for the employment permit that you’re applying for. This includes providing detailed information about yourself, your employer, and the job you’re planning to do. You may also have to provide the results of a Labour Market Needs Test, depending on the type of permit you’re applying for.

Employment permits require a large range of documentation to be processed, and all of these need to be provided and present at the time of application.

Reasons as to why your application may be delayed include if your application is complex, if you have additional immigration or employment concerns that need to be investigated, and if the current volume of applications is high.

You should always refer to the DETE website for current processing times.

Alternatively, if you need to speak to an immigration adviser regarding your application, IAS are here to help. We are on hand to help advise and guide you on the process and tackle any questions or concerns you might have. Call us on (+353) 061 518 025 , or contact us online today.
